In November 2022, SYF signed their first partnership agreement with Muslim Aid Sri Lanka to support their Water for Life Initiative. This project provided potable water connections to women-headed households and vulnerable families lacking access due to financial constraints,  in the Batticaloa District.

The project was successfully completed, providing 478 water connections. Access to clean water at the household level has brought numerous benefits, including improved hygiene and health  and the empowerment of women and girls. With water readily available at home, women have more time for paid work and education, significantly improving their quality of life.

This initiative aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goal number 6, which aims to ensure the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all. SYF is proud to have supported Muslim Aid Sri Lanka in making progress towards this vital goal
